Emma Marie lives in Nelson, New Zealand, with her husband and four sons.

In 2005, Emma Marie graduated from her Bachelor of Visual Arts Degree with Excellence. Other areas of study include, Interior Decorating, Fashion and Textile Design, Graphic Design, and Psychology.

Since 2006, Emma Marie has been exhibiting in galleries.. Her practice explores themes that echo inner and outer realities with reverence to the now. Marks and paint pay homage to the present, however that may be.
